During takeoff a jet aircraft goes from 0km/hr to 720km/hr in 10 seconds?

A. What is the initial speed of the jet aircraft during takeoff? __________m/s

B.What is the final speed of the jet aircraft during takeoff? ____________m/s

C.what is the average speed of the jet aircraft during takeoff?_______m/s

D.Calculate the distance covered by the jet aircraft during the takeoff?_________M

E.What is the acceleration of the jet aircraft during the takeoff? ___________m/s^2

F.Calculate the force acting on the Jet Aircraft during the takeoff?___________N

Explanation / Answer

Kinematics equations again! Remember to change units though, very important... you're going from km/hr to m/s here! Also make sure to memorize the four kinematics equations!

a) initial speed is the starting speed, so in this case... it's 0 m/s

b) the final speed is the speed they give you at the end, so in this case it's 720 km/hr but you need it in m/s... so 720km/hr * 1000m/1km*1hr/3600seconds = 200 meters/second

c) to find the average speed of the jet, you use vf+vi/2...
so (0 + 200) / 2 = 100 m/s

d) d = vf+vi/2 (found above) * time
so d = 100 * 10 = 1000m

e) vf = vi + a*t
200m/s = 0 + a*10s
a = 200m/s / 10s = 20 m/s2

f) force = mass * acceleration

You didn't give the mass, but if you plug it in F = mass * 20 m/s2 should give you the answer for the force :)
