Question

1-a. Explain how the gastrointestinal blood loss caused a reduction in human's arterial pressure.

b. Why is human being's arterial pressure is lower in the upright (standing) position than in the supine (laying down) position?

c. In supine (laying down) position, a human being's heart rate is elevated to (105 beats/min). Why? Why human being's heart rate is even more elevated to (135 beats/min) in upright (standing) position? Explain the mechanism here.

* [Note] = This is whole one question and make sure the answer is correct.

Explanation / Answer

1. Bleeding causes decline in the blood volume which decreases venous return, which cardiac output decreases, which in essence means arterial pressure is decreased.

2. Arterial pressure is lower in the upright position because gravity contributes to blood flow from the heart. While supine, the heart has to work harder to pump out arterial blood to the body due to lack of gravity.

I don't have the answer to part 3.....hope this helps somewhat!
