0 out of 2 points Predict what would happen to nuclear import in cells with a mutant Ran protein that could not hydrolyze GTP Selected Answer: Cargo is not released from importin in the nucleus Question 22 0 out of 3 points (Extra Credit) 2/1 Pyruvate is completely oxidized to CO2 in the tricarboxylic cycle. Consider the 3 carbons of pyruvate. Label them 1, 2, and 3. How many turns (or rounds) of the cycle are necessary to oxidize all three of those original carbons into CO2? Please include the initial reaction of pyruvate to acetyl CoA as part of the first cycle Selected Answer: 3 Response See Figure 10-9 to carefully trace each carbon 1, 2, and 3 around the cycle Feedback: and follow where each one ends up after each decarboxylation Question 15 4 out of 4 points

Explanation / Answer

Ans- only one cycle of TCA is enough to converts all the three carbons into Co2 . The first Co2 is produced at first step where pyruvate is converted into Acetyl co A. Second Co2 is produced in conversion of a ketoglutarate from isocitrate and the third is produced in conversion of succinate from ketoglutarate. So one cycle of TCA is used.
