Question

For my PHYS 101 Lab, we collected data of an object during free fall and during projectile motion. The data was then plotted as y-position vs. time separately for each of the 2 experiments.

We were then given the equation Vyi=

Then told to plot the y component of the velocity vs. time.

Calculate the y component of the acceleration using the equation

Then plot the y component of the acceleration vs. time.

I know it should be simple. Really, I'm terrible with excel and can't figure out how to even go about this or where to start or what to graph or expect. Help would be GREATLY appreciated. I can't answer the lab questions without the graphs, so until I figure that out, I'm stuck!

Explanation / Answer
The equations that you have is to calculate the positions, velocity and acceleration of the objects at different times. To do so you will need to use the formula in excel. Since you have data time t-1 you are required to calculate the value of variables at time t+1. I hope the following links on excel formula will help you you. Since your question was not very specific to what exactly you are stuck with so i hope the link will help you.
