The two reasons are as follows:
1. Linnaeus taxonomy included a rank "species" above the level of genus. Linnaeous given this rank "species" on the basis of morphological similarity. Later on it was proved by Darwin that a species can be change over time.
2. The major aspect of this rank "species" is sexual reproduction and did not include the asexual reproduction by plants, microbes and fungi.
Due to these two reasond many systematists beleive that the ranking should be based on evolutionary history (phylogenetic base) and thus they argued for abandonment of Linnaeous taxonomic ranks above genus.
I am not agree with this argument. Although our advance knowledge of biology and computer system made easy to develop a phylogenetic tree, still it is not possible to develop a phylogenetic tree for all the species.
