The other day my teenage son was driving the car into the garage at highly relativistic speeds.(He sometimes reckless that way.) the car is normally 5 m long and the garage is 4 m long. just before he crashed into the back of the garage I managed to close the door behind him so that the car was (barely) completely enclosed in the garage. a) How fast was the car going? b) How long is the garage in my son's frame of reference? c) Assume that the front of the car hits the back of the garage, x=4, at time t=0 m and the garage door closes behind the car, x=0 m, at the same time t=0 m. Give the location and times of these events from my son's point view. explain what he sees.Explanation / Answer
b) distance never changes in any frame of reference so length of garage according to son's frame of ref = 4m
