The other day in an ECO class we discuss how restaurant deal with the foods remains the professor gave us an example that what happens with it. After he left this question in the air in order to thinking about it:
What you order isn’t what you expected, and you sent the food backWhen food gets sent back, many restaurants have rules to prevent the cooks and servers from eating it. At first glance, this seems very inefficient – good food is thrown away. What are some reasons why restaurants might do this? (Hint: There are both benefits and costs to the restaurant of letting servers and cooks eat rejected food; what are they?)

When a custmor order a meal at a restaurant But he saw that order is not what he has expected and send it back .when food gets sent back many restaurants have rules to prevent the cooks and servers from eating it. in its face it looks very inefficient -good food thrown away.
Should restaurants allow its staff to eat this rejected food or not this question can be answered considering both benefits & costs that vary the consequences of this rule of restaurant -
1) Benefit- If restaurants allow its servers & cooks to eat rejected food then its obvious that staff will be happy with thier job ,will increase attractiveness towards the job and also build the confidence in the staff.Staff will work with more dedication and hard work.As a result of this restarants may reduce wages of staff or may attract higher quality workers(The compensating wage differentials).
2) Cost---- Cost of leting staff eat the rejected food is that restaurants will create incentive to hungry servers and staff deliberately mess up the orders so that they can get the rejected food .staff will mess up the orders and this will increase the cost .
