Question
A crate is pulled to the right with a force of 93.7 N, to the left with a force of 127.9 N, upward with a force of 563.6 N, and downward with a force of 238.1 N. What is the net external force in the x direction? What is the net external force in the y direc- tion? Answer in units of N What is the magnitude of the net external force on the crate? Answer in units of N What is the direction of the net external force on the crate (as an angle between ?180 and 180, measured from the positive x axis with counterclockwise positive)? Answer in units of degreeExplanation / Answer
When I solved for the Y-Direction I simply subtracted the upward force from the downward force and got the answer correct. I don't know what to do for the x-direction. X direction: I attempted these: -93.7N-127.9N = -221.6 127.9N-93.7N = 34.2 127.9N^2+93.7N^2 and then square root that answer to get = 158.54 For the x-direction, just do exactly what you did for the y-direction
