I don't even know where to begin.... Two skaters are skating together over horizontal, frictionless ice, and then they push each other apart. At the moment when they lose contact with one another, skater A (mA = 85.0 kg) is moving west at 4.0 m/s, and skater B (mB = 53.0 kg) is moving south at 6.00 m/s. At what velocity were they skating together before parting? (ii) A firecracker resting on a level street explodes into three pieces of equal mass. Immediately after the explosion, the first piece is moving north at 125 m/s, and the second piece is moving east at 75.0 m/sec. What is the velocity of the third piece immediately after the explosion? ??(iii) A projectile of mass m is fired from the ground with an initial speed vi at an angle of q above the horizontal. At the highest point of its arc, it explodes into three pieces, A, B and C, all of equal mass. Immediately after the explosion, pieces A and B are still moving with the same speed as the whole projectile had right before the explosion. However, A is moving vertically downward, and B is moving horizontally forward (i.e. in the same direction as the projectile prior to its explosion). Find the velocity of C right after the explosion.
