1. Generally bore log data consists of series of recovered soil/rock samples from the boring. The gathering the data one can use tripod and push the sampler in which soil or rock sample will be collected through hydralic pressure.

To have truly representative sample we could reccomend for the use if Split spoon sampler which gives very less disturbance to the rock and many laboratory tests such as Unconfined compressive test, Point load test, permeability test would be concucted on the same rock sample. These test will be very much useful for Engineers to decide the type of foundation.
In many filed studies one could go for CPT (Cone Penetration test), DCPT (Dynamic cone penetration test) tests, most recommended for marine clays to get the uniformity characteristics of soil. These tests wont be reuired for rocky/gravelly strata which has got large UCS value.
