Question
(recall that 1 Joule 6.2415 × 1018 eV) A) Below are three charts showing the energy levels for the Bohr model of the hydrogen atom and the associated energy level transitions. How are these similar? How are they different? Are any of the charts communicating the information in clearer or more helpful ways? Are any of the charts misleading in the communication of information? Which chart does your group like the best? -"0378 eV -iadinily B-0544 Pasc 12.07 ev yihen Series #82 10.19 V Series Balmer Series ate Balner Series lst stale 2nd -13.6 ey yman Series lonleaties Chart 1 Chart 2 Chart 3Explanation / Answer
Chart 2 is most helpful.
Similarity: All charts show total energy of the orbit. All charts show clearly the spectral series.
Difference: Chart 1 shows difference of energy of orbit with that of an electron at infinity. 2nd shows actual values of total energy. 3rd shows the same, only in circular manner.
Only chart 1 can be misleading. As it shows the difference in energy from a particular level. Whereas other charts can help determine difference in energy between any two levels.
