Question

Hello, this question is for my intro to electronics physics class. We are learning the basics of circuits so I do not already know any background information. I am learning how to do circuits for the first time, so I am not very familiar with various techniques and strategies.

Please give a full explaination on what to do and why, possibly with arrows connecting things or brief discriptions of how each step is reached.

Thank you so much in advance!

Question 31 What will happen to each resistor's voltage and current in this circuit if resistor R1 fails open? Provide individual answers for each resistor, please. ower supply Printed circuit board with surface-mount resistors RI

Explanation / Answer

Ironically, in circuits, 'open' means 'switch off'..

Firstly, a circuit completes only when + and -ve both are connected to it. If R1 fails open, you can see that +ve terminal will not be connected any longer. Hence, there will be no current or voltage at all in the circuit.

Final answer: All currents and voltages will become zero
