Question

Kinematics (Average vs. Instantaneous Velocity): Pre-Lab 6. A cart starts moving at 35 cm/s and stops after traveling 525 cm for 30s. Find the acceleration of the cart. 525 CA 30s 7. A cart starts moving with velocity to and covers a distance D during time T, at which time it stops At a time passes a point a distance d from its starting point. Using kinematic equations, find the time ti Express your answer only in terms of d. D, and T, as well as appropriate numerical factors 8. A cart starts moving at 35 cm/s and travels 525 cm during 30s. At what time does the cart pass a point that is 320 cm from its starting position? Fall 2018 page 2 of 2 PHYS 1110

Explanation / Answer

According to 1st Equation of motion-

V=u+at

Given, final velocity(v)=0

Initial velocity(u)= 35cm/sec =0.35m/sec

Time(t)=30sec

Acceleration(a)=?

Substituting values:

0=0.35 m/s + a* 30sec

30*a=-0.35

A=-0.0116 m/sec^2 (Ans) (negative sign because actually the car stops, ir.retards)
