Question
What assumptions have you made in working this problem? I ONLY NEED HELP WITH THE ASSUMPTIONS. the rest of the problem was included for context. JUST NEED HELP WITH ASSUMPTIONS. The fuel in a bottle rocket burns for 2.0 s. While burning, the rocket moves upward with an acceleration of 30 m/s2 . (a) What is the vertical distance the rocket travels while the fuel is still burning and how fast has it traveling at the end of the burn? (b) After the fuel stops burning, the rocket continues upward but now slowing at a rate of about 10 m/s2 . Estimate the maximum height that the rocket reaches.
Explanation / Answer
Assuming the rocket is point like object and neglecting air resistance.
a)
From
Y=Yo+Voyt+(1/2)at2
Y=0+0+(1/2)*30*2
Y=60 m
From
V=Vo+at
V=0+30*2
V=60 m/s
b)
After fuel burned , ,From
V2=Vo2-2g(Hmax-Yo)
at maximum height V=0
=>0=602-2*10*(Hmax-60)
Hmax=240 m
