Question

This is all of the information the professor provided. It is very vague. She just wants us to list examples of possible variables then make aup a hypothesis to show that we have an understanding of the terms.

Explanation / Answer

Hi,
The questionaaire is about how well we can design an exeriment. There areseveral paramteres one has to know before designing the experiment. The variables like independent ( not dependent on any other variable), or dependent ( will change with respect to other variables); Controls ( which is not subjected to exeriment); and a hyothesis to explain the possible exerimental outcomes.
1: Clorox v/s Lysol
Independent variable: The bacterial culture.
Dependent variable: The plate counts,or rate of disinfection.
Positive Control: The known disinfectants like Chlorine, Antibiotics, formaline, alcohol...etc.
Hypothesis: The Clorox and Lysol are both disinfectants. These chemical when added to bacterial culture, can kill the cells at different speed. The bacteria are plated on the agar plates to confirm the kil.

2. Tutoring v/d test taking
Independent variable: The students and syllabus
Dependent variable: The test outcomes.
Control: One group of students who were given the books to study with no help. Another group of students from another stream of study with no understandng of the subject.
Negative control: One group of students were not show the syllabus nor they were allowed to study. They were directly asked to apear for exam and their results were considered as negative control, as it shows the background knowledge or background idea in students before studying.
Hypothesis: The students whoc recieved help as tutoring or as test taking, make the most of the exam as compared to control groups.

As per our guidlines, the first full question is solved. Please try to solve the rest with similar logic. If any help is needed kindly get back in comments section.
