Question
46 pts The voltage measured across a resistor with a voltmeter is 4.5 V. The resistor is 220 ?. a) What is the current through the resistor? b) What is the power being dissipated (power converted to heat) by the 220 Q resistor? 5) 10 pts. Assume the sun light intensity is 1080W/m2 and the area of your solar cells is 52.0 m2. The efficiency of the solar cells are 11%. A) What is the power delivered by the solar cells? B) If the sun is shining typically 11 hours a day at this light intensity, how much energy per day in units of kWh/day would be generated by these solar cells ?Explanation / Answer
Q4)-
Part A)-
By the Ohm's law we know that V=i*R so applying this eqn here
Given data is V= 4.5v and R = 220 ohm
Then-
i= V/R = 4.5/220 = 0.0204 Amp.
Part B)-
Power = i2*R
Power = 0.02042*220 = 0.0836 Watt
Q5)-
Part A)-
As we know that Intensity = Power / Area
Power = intensity*Area
Power = 1080 * ( 52) = 56160 Watt
But efficiency is given as 11% than-
Pout or Power Deliverd = 0.11*P = 0.11*56160 = 6177.6 Watt
B)-
Energy = Power * time per day = 6177.6 *11 = 67953.6 Wh/day
Energy = 67.953 kWh/day
