Question
A car travelling at 10mph takes a corner of 10 yards radius. What is the acceleration of the car in ft/s2.
The formulas that I am given are as follows....
The first thing i did was convert the 10mph to 14.67 ft/s. Then i found the angular velocity which is the w = v/r and got 0.498 rad/s but now im stuck. I am nto sure what to do since i dont have the distance
Explanation / Answer
Velocity of car = 10 mph = 14.667 ft/sec
Radius of corner = 10 yards = 30 ft
Acceleration of car = v^2 / R
= 14.667^2 / 30
= 7.17 ft/sec^2
