Question
Genetics Qs :
A) which individual can be excluded as suspects and why?
B) Which of the individuals could be the perpetrator? Do you think the evidence is conclusive? Why or why not?
Please explain your answer !! All I know is 1 peak = homozygous, 2 peak=heterozygous
A DNA sample collected from the scene of a crime is believed to be from the perpetrator. Itis genotyped for four SSRloci. Foursuspects are genotyped as well. All five genotypes are shown below as fluorometric traces, with the colors corresponding to different lociExplanation / Answer
A) If we match every peak of the given graph. The pattern of DNA fragment size of individual A and the pratten of DNA fragments of the sample from the perpetrator are same to same and match with each other. So we can can that the individual A is the perpetrator. Individual D can be excluded from the perpetrate list because the peak with red colour does not match with the sample.
B) The preparator could be individual A, Individual B and individual C as there are some resemblance between the DNA fragments peak of red colour. In case of individual A, B and C there are a red peak common at position of 157. But there is no such peak in case of individual D.
The evidence is strongly conclusive because the patter of DNA one carries is totally different from the other individuals of the same special. This difference between DNA is in the non genic part of the DNA.
