Question
On your first day at work for a solid waste consulting organization, your supervisor asks you to prepare a proposal (in outline form) to evaluate the feasibility of ocean dumping of baled solid wastes. The only information available is that the Press-It-Tight Baling Co. claims that it can produce bales with an average density of 1100 kg/m^3 and that if these bales of solid wastes are dumped in the ocean, they will sink to the bottom because of their greater density and remain there, causing no problems. Structure your proposal by asking yourself what kind of information, data, and criteria would be required to protect the environment and to formulate public policy concerning ocean dumping. This information will be useful for places like Singapore. [Max 1 page]Explanation / Answer
we can dump it in an open area to decompose the dump. by dumping it in ocean it can be harmful for aqatic life and harm to aqatic organisms.if the only posible solution to get rid of that dump is to dump it in ocean then we have to know in which part of sea aquatic life is not present in heavy population and where it can be decomposed easly. how ever we have lots of methods to decompose the waste like oxidation pound where it can be decomposed by aerobic and anerobic reactions.
or we can dump it in areated lagoon where we pass oxigen in waste mechanicaly to decompose it.
or its bettre to recycle it rather than dumping it in ocean because aquatic life is so much important for human beings because we use tem as food medicne. and it continue the nature cycle.
