Question
Hello! I will appreciate if you will help me with my Biology assignment. No plaguarism!
1) Below is part of a gene that will be transcribed into a complementary strand of mRNA during the process of transcription. What would be the sequence of nucleotides of the mRNA transcribed from this gene? This question should be answered with a series of letters. (2points)
5’-A-G-C-C-T-A-T-C-C-A-C-G-A-A-T-T-C-C-3’
2) Where does transcription occur in the cell? Where does translation occur in the cell? (3 points)
3) What are three key differences in the structure of mRNA molecules and DNA molecules? (3 points)
4) The ability to get your genome sequenced has become relatively easy and inexpensive. Your DNA can reveal a lot about you. In class, we discussed that your DNA can tell you important information, such as any mutations that you might have that could give you increased chance of developing certain diseases. However, this technology comes with ethical considerations. Are you comfortable with a company having your DNA sequence on file given that a third party , such as a potential employer, might at some point get access to your genetic information? If not, then why? (Not really a correct answer for this question, but I would like to get thoughtful answers.) (2 points)
Explanation / Answer
1) the sequence of nucleotides of the mRNA transcribed from this gene is 3'-U-C-G-G-A-U-A-G-G-U-G-C-U-U-A-A-G-G-5'
2)Transcription occurs in the nucleus and Translation occurs in cytoplasm
transcription and translation in are generally related to the DNA and its properties.
It helps in replication in humans.
3)- mRNA contain ribose sugar while as DNA has deoxyribose sugar.
- DNA is single stranded while as mRNA is single stranded.
- DNA has long span of time while as mRNA is short lived.
4) Yes, i would be comfortable because there are some benefits which i will get like i will come to know about the mutations if any are there in my DNA. Moreover, more knowledge will be available for future refrences
