Question

Question 11 0/1 point Which of the following is true regarding a hepatocyte (liver cell), an astrocyte, and a neuron? The types and amounts of proteins that each kind of cell expresses are identical All three types of cells have identical DNA sequences in their nuclei The activity of promoters in each cell type is the same, but the genes are different neuron and an astrocyte have DNA that is different from hepatocyte DNA because the former are both found in the brain The three types of cells look and behave differently only because of the environment they grow in A

Explanation / Answer

Option second is correct. All three types of cells have identical DNA sequences in their nuclei. This is because all of the cells in our bodies start from a single fertilized egg. That fertilized egg divided over and over again until a new baby was made and In the end, we all are made up of trillions of cells with almost identical genes.  yet, all cells are obviously not the same because they use the same set of genes (DNA sequences) differently.

If we talk about first option. It is not true because all these three cells perform different types of function by expressing different type of proteins in different amounts by using same set of genes differently according to their need.

Now option third is also not true because the activity of promoter region of the genes of all these three cells mayt be same but the genes are not different. All theses three cells have same set of genes. In the same way option 4th is also not true.

Option 5th is also not correct because the three type of cells look and behave differently because of using same set of genes in different way according to their requirement not because of the environment they grow in.
