A pulp and paper company wants to optimise the mix of different pulps being used to make one tonne of newsprint. Table 2.1 shows the six types of pulp that can be used and their various properties. The Table also shows the targeted values of the final product. Because of the way the mill runs, the final product must use at least 10% of the groundwood pulps, whether this is groundwood, bleached groundwood or a combination of the two.
