O agene is a sequence of nucleotides, hundreds or thousands of nucleotides long O the gene is the basic unit of biological heredity O genes are units of instructions for building and maintaining an organism O a gene is a nucleotide sequence that encodes a protein O each DNA molecule in one of your cells is one gene Save Page 3 of 32Explanation / Answer
Differences between genes of different species can be seen primarily in differences in nucleotide sequence of DNA in the different species.
Different spcies share much of their genetic makeup with large genetic differences between plants and animals or human and other micro organisms. All humans are 99.9% identical, yet there are significant differences in looks, skin colous, hair colour, eye colour etc. This is due to minute DNA nucleotide changes between the two individuals, these changes being present in important genes makes their effect to be significant.
A mouse is 92% identical, and a chimpanzee is 98% identical to Humans, due to their DNA changes.
