Question

Please help me answer these physics questions. I need help answering question 1 and 2(a,b). Thank you! 1. Sophie throws a tennis ball down from a height of 1.5 m at an angle of 45 with respect to vertical. She drops another tennis ball from the same height. Use tho Energy Interaction Model to predict which ball will hit the ground with greater speed. 2. A vertical spring, spring constant 3000 N/m, and with a 200 g woight attached is pushed up 14 am from equilbrium. and with a 200 g weight attached is pushed up 14 cm from equilbrium The mass is then released. What is the speed of the weight when it is 10 cm above the equilibrium moving up- ward? Use the fact that E KE+PE to state whether this speed is greater than, less than, or equal to its speed as it passes through the equilibrium position. b.

Explanation / Answer

1. Applying energy conservation,

initial PE + KE = final PE + KE

m g h1 + m v0^2 /2 = 0 + m vf^2 /2

first ball was thrown so v0 will have some value.

second ball was dropped that means v0 = 0

so vf will be greater for first ball .....Ans
