Question

4 points My Notes + ASK Your Teach r Link to on-line chapter section: Section 6-5: Playing with a Constant Acceleration Equation Vivian is riding her bike in the +x direction. When Vivian and her bike pass through x0 m, the Vivian-bike system has a kinetic energy of 470 J. The graph shows the net force acting on the Vivian-bike system between x 0 m and x+7 m. The combined mass of Vivian and her bike is 36.0 kg Fnet (N) 60 40 20 x (m) -20 -40 -60 (a) What is the kinetic energy of the Vivian-bike system when Vivian and her bike pass through x-+3 m? (b) what is the minimum speed achieved by Vivian on her bike between x = 0 m and x = +7 m? m/s (c) what is the maximum speed achieved by Vivian on her bike between x m and x+7 m? m/s (d) what is the magnitude of the momentum of the Vivian-bike system when Vivian and her bike pass through x-+ m kg m/s

Explanation / Answer

a) At x= 3m,

KEf = KEi + Fs = 470 +20*2 = 510 J (ans)

b) Area of the curve till x=7, = -30 J

KEf = 470-30= 440 J = 0.5*36*V^2

V =4.94 m/sec (ans)

c) Till x=4m, area = 50

KEf = 520 J = 0.5mVm^2

Vmax = 5.37 m/sec (ans)

d) Tillx=6, Area =10 J

KEf = 480 J

V = 5.16 m/sec

Momentum = MV = 36*5.16= 185.76 Kgm/sec (ans)
