Q#2: In Germany, annual professional fees are set by law for engineers, doctors and lawyers. In Frankfurt, ors, 18 lawyers and 12 engineers were $76.5M. In Munich, 18 doctors, 9 lawyers, and 20 engineers were charged $55.0M and in Berlin 25 doctors, 20 lawyers, and 16 engineers were charged $85.5M. Using Matlab command to determine the annual fees charged by each doctor, lawyers and engineers.

Explanation / Answer

This is basically a problem of solving a system of linear equatiins with three unknows

Let the fee for doctor be x,lawyer be y and engineer be z

In Frankfurt, 23x+18y+12z=76.5(million dollars)

In Munich, 18x+9y+20z=55(milliom dollars)

In Berlin, 25x+20y+16z=85.5(million dollars)

Therefore, the system.of equations is

23x+18y+12z=76.5

18x+9y+20z=55

25x+20y+16z=85.5

The above three equations can be solved by defining two matrices A and B,wherein matrix A is 3x3 and has all the coefficients of the system of equations and matrix B is 3x1 containing the numbers to the right hand side of equations.

The required numbers x,y and z can be calculated by multiplying the inverse of matrix A with matrix B

Inverse(A)*B

This can be easily done in MATLAB. I hope this helps
