In Malaysia, EIA is required under section 34A, Environmental Quality Act, 1974, which specifies the legal requirements in respect of EIA for Prescribed Activities. What are some of the activities that involve in EIA? (25 Marks)Explanation / Answer
1)team work is essential in science and engineering fields to solve the the problems.an engineering problem cannot be solved by a single person since a single problem involves many technologies which is dealed by different work area people, and also their integrated work only solve that problem effectively.
an example can be explained to support this answer ,let us consider a building construction project as a problem hence to solve this problem(construction of building) as the buillding contains not only the infrastructure but also the lift, elevation plan, gardening etc.so along with civil engineer, architecture, electrical engineer, and some more experts like painters, masons are required and with their teamwork/ coordination only building can be constructed effectively with out any problem.hence for any engineering problem teamwork is required,
2)social and environmental implications of sustainable development in malaysia.
as malaysia is the developing country and it has to balance the economy and environment the country consider many factors that are related to economy and environment like land, air, and water pollutions.and to deveop the country as the sustainble country it follows many policies and improve application and following the rules sttrictly.
for sustainbility development malaysia has introduced many policies like national economic policy(NEP) and national development policy (NDP).these polices identify the pollution ares and controlling them are done by them, not only the government policies but also the private sectors and the NGO's also work hard to make the country more sustainable.as many other developng countries malaysia cannot be comprimise about the econpmy development, but for environmental prtection it follows the more advanced environmental pollution reducing practices,it strictly follows the environmental acts and policies to make the country sustainble country.
3)the defenition of sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.as the defenitions explains it tells about the importance of the sustainable development i.e giving away the nature as it is for future generations without polluting it.usage of nature and its sources upto our survival and that to in a safe manner.
importance of sustainable development:
1)to stable the relationship between the human activites and the nature world which doesnot diminish the resources to the future generation.
2)makes the higher standard of living.
3)effective usge of resources.
4)balance economic,environment and socio issues.
sustainable development goals:as per UNDP the goals of sustainable development are
no poverty,no hunger, good health and well being, quality education, gender equality, quality water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, decent work and economic growth, ndustry, innovation and infrastructure, reduced in equalities.sustainable citiies and communities, responsible consumption andproduction, climate action, life on land, life below water, peace justice and strong institutions, partnership for the goals.
by my understanding these goals are achieved by the impliments of number of programme related to the sustainable dvelopment by UNDP and other country wise programme by encouraing the usage of nonrenewable resources like non fossil fuels and renewable resouces.
4)as per the environmental quality 1974 act section 34A of malaysia legal requirements of the presribed activites that involves in EIA
