Question

The stats of the 2008 Dodge Viper are: 8.4liter V10 600hp engine, develops 560 ftlb. of torque, weighs 1569kg, goes from 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds, 0-100mph in 7.6 seconds, and through 0.25 miles from rest in 11.5 seconds (finishing at 126 mph) and has a top speed of 202 mph. Finally, its skidpad average acceleration is 1.06g and the fuel economy is 13mpg city/22mpg highway. I need to know the Viper's acceleration (assumed to be constant) at 0-60mph, 0-100mph, and 'quarter mile' as well as the distances it travels going from 0-60mph and 0-100mph. Thank you!!!

Explanation / Answer

   = (88/3.5)ft/s2
   = 25.14 ft /s2

Acceleration at 0-100mph is a = (100mph)/(7.6s)    = (146.6667/7.6)ft/s2
   = 19.29825 ft /s2
Also we have x = voxt + (1/2)at2 then acceleration a =(0.25mile)(5280ft/mile)(2)/(11.5s)2       =19.96ft/s2
Distance traveled from 0-60mph is x =(1/2)(25.14ft/s2)(3.5s)2             = 154ft

Distance traveled from 0-100mph is x = (1/2)(19.29825 ft/s2)(7.6s)2             = 557ft    = (146.6667/7.6)ft/s2
   = 19.29825 ft /s2
Also we have x = voxt + (1/2)at2 then acceleration a =(0.25mile)(5280ft/mile)(2)/(11.5s)2       =19.96ft/s2
