Question
A particular ferris wheel at a local carnival has aradius of 20.0 m and it completes 1 revolution in 8.17seconds. Find: a. Speed of a pt at the edge of the wheel b. x and y compnent of acceleration at A c. x and y component of acceleration at B d. x and y component of acceleration at C For A, I found the circumference of the wheel by multiplying2*20* , then divided it by t=8.17 seconds to get velocity =15.4 m/s. I don't know if that's right, and I don't really know how toapproach the other acceleration parts of this question. Thanks!Explanation / Answer
You are correct for finding speed. You first need to find the centripitalacceleration which is v^2/r so in your case it would be 11.9 b.) The x component would be 0, y would be -11.9 c. x component is 0, y is 11.9 d. the x component is -11.9 and y is 0
