Question

Okay this is kinda confusing me...it gives me these directions> >For the following questions, build the pictorial andphysical models as shown in the preceding example. Do not solve theproblems. The Question goes like this...well exactly like this> >A speeding car is traveling at a constant speed of 30m/swhen it passes a stopped police car. the police car accelerates at7m/s2 (squared). How fast will it be going when it catches up withthe speeding car? I think i'm suppose to be drawinga picture for the problem but what really confuses me is the factthat the 7m/s is squared and the 30m/s isn't. What is thedifference? Can you explain it to me? Also i would appreciate ifyou did solve the problem and explained to me how you solvedit? Explanation / Answer

I'm not really sure if you are supposed to draw a picture or not.  It sounds like you are to use the previous question as an example.  But, I can tell you that the 30m/s is not squared because it is the velocity of the car.  7m/s2 is the acceleration of the police car.  Acceleration is the rate of change in velocity, it is always meters/second x second.
