In the first problem we have applied the hydrostatic equation. P1-P2=rho * g* h. Which gives the pressure differece.
In the second problem we have applied continutiy equation. A1V1=A2V2.
We need to apply the equations as per our requirement. What we need in the problem and which equation we need to apply that we should understand that's it.
