U gioup uiscussioh. (15-minutes) Rhetorical Context: You work for Ingenious Engineering, a successful US-based civil engineering firm. Stanley Holley, the Senior VP of Communications, values your insights and asks you to revise a letter he has just written to the 100 shareholders of the firm. He acknowledges the letter was written in haste. The letter informs shareholders of one of the latest developments in the firm concerns a new overseas contract that will potentially increase the firm's profits by 25% more details about the contract will be unveiled at the upcoming annual meeting for shareholders in New York on March 30, 2018, the letter serves as a critical introductory message to inform shareholders about the new overseas contract but also to help garner their support for it. More than half of the shareholders are not US-based; many of them are international investors who are from Japan and various countries in Central and South America. English for all the shareholders is a second language. Most of the shareholders are 55-65 years old and have received a university-level education; a few (five to seven) have an MBA degree. Many of them read in English several times a week, but they do not always have a chance to practice English on a daily basis.
