Explanation / Answer

Hi,

1. One can reduce the additional heat partially by reducing some part of the unwanted roof angled glazing summer solar heat gain by installing a skylight in the shade of deciduous or leaf-shedding trees. In addition to it, by adding a movable insulated opaque window covering either on the inside or outside of the skylight. This would possibly eliminate the daylight benefit in the summer.

2. Also material and colors on the exterior walls may be chosen such that it controls the reflection and absorption of the rays. One can also determine the thermal radiation properties using color for electromagnetic radiation which will help in assisting the colors.
