As a case study. consider the design of a dam to provide hydroelectric power. While hydroelectric power results in pollution or greenhouse gas emissions, Engineers must be encouraged to examine the greater environmental and social ramifications of creating a new dam in a community. For example, people may be displaced and farmland and cultural sites flooded. Negative environmental impacts may include ponding and eutrophication, and the fish population may be adversely affected. On th other hand, new dams may help control flooding In this assignment, you are required to present in a written essay "the broad education to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global societal context" a. Select a current application or problem or an existing engineering project that includes not only the technical aspects of an application but also some related global societal contemporary issue as a result of the application o the problem. We have recent failures of storage bins and other structures . We need to increase awarness and safety measures the hazards associates with these type of failures

In 2010 due to failure of storage bin which killed one minor due to collapse and few other people are just missed . We also have many structural failures like building collapses, fire risks etc These things show that these type of things are also taken care

Few measures like

1) Examining the structures for indications of damage,weakend structural elements , buckling columns,fatigue cracked metal etc

2) check structures for any damages which are old constructions

3) Fire exits are to be provided because there are cases of sudden fire failures due to which so many got killed and injured

4) Report all the areas where structural weakness are found

5) miniminze spillage and elminate source properly

Either remodel structures or demolish old ones and build new ones, Check they are done under building codes with proper care
