Question

I have a practice test and there is a problem like this one but it asks me for the period of circular motion of the alpha particles. This one is a lil different and can't figure it out. Help please....

Alpha particles (charge = +2e, mass = 6.68 x 10-27 kg) are accelerated in a
cyclotron to a final orbit radius of 0.70 m. The magnetic field in the cyclotron is 0.90T. The magnetic flux enclosed by the final orbit is closest to:
A) 0.85Wb
B) 1.5 Wb
C) 1.8 Wb
D) 1.0 Wb
E) Other (show answer)

The formula that I used for the period of circular motion was T=2pM/qB

Explanation / Answer

magnetic flux enclosed by the final orbit is            f   = BA                 = 0.9 ( p r ^2 )                 = ( 0.9*3.14*0.7^2 )                 = 1.3847 Wb
