I was wondering why the potential difference was negative for thefollowing problem: work done by external force to move a -8.5C charge from point a to point b is 15.0*10-4 J,charge was started from rest and had 4.82*10-4 J ofkinetic energy when it reached point b, find potential differencebetween a and b. Is the answer negative because the finalpotential difference is less than the initial potential difference?Also, is there a conceptual explanation to why the potentialdifference is negative?
