Question
Hi, I need to know the application (in real cases) of molarity. If you want to add any examples, please feel free to do it. Thanks in advance!!
1)What is molarity?
2)What is molarity used for?
3)Could you give me examples of how to use it? The application of molarity?
4)If I'm doing an experiment with molarity, what factors can/can’t I control? (Both)
5) If I want to create a medication and the molarity I calculate is wrong or good, what happens in both cases?
6) What is the use of molarity in the creation of a drug? Any practical example that you can give me?
Thanks again!
Explanation / Answer
Ans 1 :
molarity is defined as the number of moles of solute present in 1 L of solution. It represents the molar concentration of the solution.
Ans 2 :
Molarity can be used to identify the concentrations of the other solutions used in experiments. It can determine the strength of the solution.
Ans 3 :
Molarity is used in titration. For example in the titration experiment of HCl with NaOH, the molarity of HCl is used to calculate the concentration of NaOH or vice versa.
Ans 4 :
Factors that can be controlled are number of moles of solute , you can increase or decrease them , to adjust the molarity.
You can also change the volume of the sample , to change the molarity of the sample.
You can always increase the amount of components in a solution but cannot decrease them if already added into the solution.
For example in a solution , the number of moles of solute cannot be decreased , but the volume of solvent can be increased to decrease the relative number of moles of solute , though the actual number of solute moles remain unchanged !!
