Question

The resolving power of a microscope depends on the wavelengthused. If one wished to "see" an atom, a resolution ofapproxiamtely 1.0 x 10 ^( -11) m would berequired. a) if electrons are used )(in an elctronmicroscope), what minimum kinetic energy is requied for theelectrons? b) if photons are used, what iminimum photon energy isneeded to obtain the required resolution? (answer for a) is 15 keVand b) is 124 keV, i don't know how to find these values) Thank you. The resolving power of a microscope depends on the wavelengthused. Explanation / Answer

a)From de Broglie's formula, find the momentum and with the momentumand the mass,u can easily find the kinetic energy. b)The same.If you have the wavelength, and knowing the speed oflight and Planck's constant,u can easily find the energy.
