Two blocks with masses m = 24.7 kg and M = 73.4kg, shown in the figure, are not attached. The coefficientof static friction between the blocks is 0.25 but the surfacebeneath M is frictionless. What is the minimum force F required tohold m against M? I know that the Friction force has to equal the blck mtimes gravity so that black m won't move. But I'm lost forthere. Can someone please? to calculate friction force, you will have to calculate the normalforce between two block. surface is frictionless so . a=F/(m+M). the contact force N=a*M.(in horizontal direction, there is onlynormal force between two blocks) so N=F*M/(m+M) mg=N*. so mg=F*M*/(M+m). so F=mg*(M+m)/M
