Explanation / Answer
1. The balanced equation is C6H12O6 + 6 O2 6 CO2 + 6 H2O + energy.
The equation expressed in words would be: glucose + oxygen carbon dioxide + water + energy
2. Three phases of cellular respiration process are :
a) Glycolysis - glucose is split to 2 three carbon molecules i.e pyruvate.
b) Krebs cycle - here the pyruvates are split to release energy and most of the carbon dioxide.
c) Electron transport- it requires oxygen and most of the energy in form of atp is formed.
3. Glycolysis happens in cytoplasm that is the splitting of glucose to pyruvates. The products then enter mitochondria for completing cellular respiration.
4. the Krebs cycle happens in matrix of mitochondria as the mitochondria is the power house of cell. Some of tthe energy is produced during this cycle.
5. Electron transport also occurs in mitochondria but it is in the inner compartments of mitochondria.
