The term Obesity is a condition when the person has excess body fat.The term. Body mass index, or BMI, is a widely used to measure obesity.Child obesity is on the increase and their BMI percentile is calculated for the various ages in young adults (ages 2–20) as it takes into account various factors which includes growing at different rates. Moreover it depends on their age and sex.
The doctors detemine obesity on the basis of BMI:
If the BMI is between 85th and 94th percentiles then the person is overweight
If the person has BMI -95th percentile or above then the person has obesity
It also includes knowing the child's family's history of obesity along with the various weight-related health problems, like diabetes.These include:
1)The children's eating habits
2)The children's activity level
3)To know any otther health conditions the child may havepresently.
4)It also includes knowing the Psychosocial history of the children which includes incidences of depression .It also includes various problems like slleep disturbances and episodes of sadness which the child might have suffered.
