Since no air resistanceis given and gravity works perpendicualr to the horizontalcomponent of velocity, the horizontal component of velocity willremain the same as it was when clam was released. vx = ux = 2.60 m/s b. When clam is released,vertical component of velocity is zero(uy = 0). First equation of motion is vy = uy + g* t final velocity of clam asit lands on thebeach vy = 0+ ( - 9.8) * 2.90 ( since upwards direction is taken as +ve, g = -9.8 m/s2) vy = -28.42 m/s - ve sign indicates that the direction ofvy is downwards. c. The horizontal component of velocitywill always be equal to initial horizontal component of velocity.Hence if the speed of crow is increased, it will alsoincrease. d.
