Question
My answer which iscorrect is 200m^3
I got this by doingthe following:
12breaths/1min *60min/1hr * 24hrs/1day * 14days/2weeks =241920breaths/2weeks
.5L/1breath *241920breaths/1L = 120960breaths/L
120960breaths/1L *10^-3 m^3 = 120.96m^3 approx
I know that if Iwould have estimated a better number for breaths in a min such as20breaths/1min then my answer would have been closer to200m^3
So that's part A thetrick for me comes in part B which is:
If the space stationis to be spherical, what should be its diameter to contain all theair you chosen in part (a)?
What I knowis:
Volume of a sphereis 4/3 pie r^3
so does thatmean:
200m^3 = 4/3 pier^3
200m^3 =4.1887r^3 47.75 =r^3
and what then? If Idid anything correctly for this part, what am I supposed to donext?
Explanation / Answer
Assuming 200 m3 is correct, you are correct that 47.75 =r3. take the cube root of both sides and get r = 3.63 meters then double it for the diameter, 7.26 meters
