Question

Energy. #1 A car moving at 15 m/s skids to a stop in 20 m. If the cartravels at 45m/s , how far will skid, assuming the same constantbraking force? # 2 The Navy wants a new airplane launcher for their aircraftcarriers and you are on the design team. The launcher iseffectively a large spring that pushes the plane for the first 5meters of the 20 meter long runway. During that same time, theplane's jet engines supply a constant thrust of 5.4x10^4 N for theentire length of the runway. The 2000 kg planes need to have avelocity of 45'm/s by the end of the runway. What shouldbe the spring constant for the launcher? #3 Calculate the kinetic energy of the earth as it makes onrevolution around the sun. #4 Hulky and Bulky, two UPS workers, decide to race each other upa flight of stairs (h=4.0m) at the warehouse. Hulky, whose mass is120 kg, makes the climb in 3.0 s; while Bulky, 150 kg, took 4.0 Sto make the climb. a) who has more Eg ( gravity ) at the top? b) who exerted more power getting there? Thank you so much. Energy. #1 A car moving at 15 m/s skids to a stop in 20 m. Explanation / Answer

4) Hulky and Bulky, two UPS workers, decide to race each otherup a flight of stairs (h=4.0m) at the warehouse. Hulky, whose massis 120 kg, makes the climb in 3.0 s; while Bulky, 150 kg, took 4.0S to make the climb. a) who has more Eg ( gravity ) at the top?
by Eg, i think you mean gravitational PE.
PE of Hulky = mgh = 120*9.8*4 = 4704 J
PE of Bulky = 150*9.8*4 = 5880 J
b) who exerted more power getting there?
Power = work/time
since work done is the same as gain in PE.
Hulky's power = 4704/3 = 1569 W
Bulky's power = 5880/4 = 1470 W
