Question

Any help with this question would be great thanks. I can't seem toget it.

1) A projectile is shot from the edge of a cliff h =265 m above ground level with aninitial speed of v0 = 125 m/s at an angle of 37.0° with thehorizontal.
(a) Determine the time taken by the projectile to hitpoint P at ground level.
I got 10.4 seconds for this which isn'tcorrect and since this isn't correct, I cant get any of the otherparts right.
(b) Determine the range X of theprojectile as measured from the base of the cliff.
(c) At the instant just before the projectile hits pointP, find the horizontal and the vertical components of itsvelocity. (Take up and to the right as positive directions.)
(d) What is the the magnitude of the velocity?
(e) What is the angle made by the velocity vector with thehorizontal?
(f) Find the maximum height above the cliff top reached by theprojectile.

Explanation / Answer

Try this Vyi=v*sin37=75.2m/s t/2=v/g=75.2/9.8=7.67s t1=7.67*2=15.4s --for projectile above a cliff h=Vyi*t +gt^2/2 4.9t^2+75.2t-265=0 t2=2.95 t=t1+t2=18.35s
