Suppose that Us Use the mesh-current method to find the power dissipated in the 15 resistor in the circuit. Express your answer to three significant figures and include the appropriate units. 75 V P15 = 5.4 Submit My Answers Give Up Incorrect; Try Again; 3 attempts remaining Continue | Figure 1 of 1 4 8 5 6 15

Explanation / Answer

let current I leave the battery
given vs = 75 V

Also, let the current divide into i ( goes into 8 ohm resistor) and I - i at the junction
then from kirchoff's loop law

75 = I(4 + 6) + 5(I - i)
=> 15I - 5i = 75
and
75 = I(4 + 6) + (8 + 15)i + 3*4I
=> 22I + 23i = 75

solving
I = 4.6153 A
i = -1.153 A

so, power dissipated by 15 ohm = P = i^2*R = 19.9411 W
