Question

(9) Two point chargs Q are located at the origin and (0,0, 2), respect respectively (a) Let be the total electric flux through a spherical su with radius 1, and lct the total elcctric flux through as ux through a spherical surface centered at origin centered at (b) Does the electric field on the spberical surfsce wit magnitude at every point? (7 points) gin with radius 3. Please find the relationship betwesh ve (5) Ia an electric field, do locations with higher potential always have stronger electric hcld? If yes, please explain why; if no, please provide a countercxauplc. (7 points)

Explanation / Answer

4] A) By application of Gauss law,

flux through spere 1 , psi1= charge enclosed / e0

= Q/e0

flux through sphere 2, psi2 = 2*charge enclosed / e0

= 2Q/e0

Hence relation is psi 2 = 2* psi 1

b] No electric field is not same. At point like (0,0,1) Electric field is zero, at others, it is non zero and different.

5] No, it is not always.

Example : Take a negative charge, the at a point very closed to it, electric potential will be lowest (will be in negative) but the electric field will be strongest ( direction towards center)
