VA = 70 mile/hour

L = 110 miles .

VB = 75 miles/hour

a ] Let conisder the VA is own speed and VB is friends speed .

so find the time of own first . VA = L/t

t = L/VA = 110 / 70 = 1.57 hours.

now find the time required for Friend.

  t = L/VB = 110 / 75 = 1.46 Hours.

now calculate the difference in hours = 1.57-1.46 = 0.11 hours.

Hence the friend 0.11 hours long ahead arrive at the Grandma's House.
