Question
Maize gene V is necessary for synthesis of chlorophyll B. A Ds element is inserted inside V. Like other null mutations of V, the Ds-tagged allele (v-Ds) is recessive and results in viable plants with a light green leaf color. In a light green v-Ds plant, the presence of Ac results in Ds excision from V during development leading to dark green spots. The size of the dark green leaf spots depend on: zygosity: double reversion rightarrow large spots expression level of Ac: high expression rightarrow small spots timing of excision: early rightarrow large spots type of repair after excision: homologous repair rightarrow small spots timing of excision: late rightarrow large spots temperature: hot weather rightarrow small spotsExplanation / Answer
Type of repair after excision: homologous repair.. small spots. this is due Ac which causes repair with formation of small spots
