Question
Two capacitors, C1=5microfarons & C2=12microfarons are connected in parallel and connected to a 9v battery.A) Find the equivalent capacitance of the combination B) Find the potential difference across each capacitor C) Find the charge stored on each capacitor Two capacitors, C1=5microfarons & C2=12microfarons are connected in parallel and connected to a 9v battery.
A) Find the equivalent capacitance of the combination B) Find the potential difference across each capacitor C) Find the charge stored on each capacitor
A) Find the equivalent capacitance of the combination B) Find the potential difference across each capacitor C) Find the charge stored on each capacitor
Explanation / Answer
here,
C1 = 5 uF
C2 = 12 uF
a)
as they are in parallel
the equivalent capacitance , C = C1 + C2
C = 17 uF
b)
the potential difference across each capacitor is same i.e V = 9 V
c)
the charge stored in 1 , Q1 = C1 * V = 45 uC
the charge stored in 2 , Q2 = C2 * V
Q = 108 uC
